The Stoak stud was founded in 1969 with Western Carabella and Chirk Sharon. The Stud was founded by my grandparents George and J Johnson when the ponies were purchased years earlier to be ridden by their son (my dad) Mark in first ridden show classes. After alot of success in the show ring they became the stud foundation mares with the first foal arriving in 1969.
The Stoak stud breeds from some of the very best bloodlines in the welsh section B breed including Western, Eyarth, Lemonshill and Paddock. The mare with the biggest influence more recently from our stud is Stoak Taffetta (Brockwell Jaguar x Eyarth Twiglet). Taffetta was successfully shown as a youngster by Colin Tibby winning 14 1st places on the trot! She has bred numerous champions including Stoak Tuscany, Stoak Tyrol, Stoak Tabitha and Stoak Tanya. These were all sired by Lemonshill Hylight who has also had a huge influence over the stud. He has left a influence on the stud even now he has gone with many of our mares with his bloodlines in. When shown he had a very impressive record being Royal Welsh Young Stock Champion, Overall International Youngstock champion and he was also shown under saddle qualifying for the Picton Finals at the N.P.S. at Malvern.
The stud is situated in North Wales in the Vale of Llangollen just minutes out of the town of LLangollen at the foot of Castell Dinas Bran.
Visitors always welcome but please ring first.
